They are focusing on Destiny ii first and and then doing Destiny DC subsequently, check out their blog mail service for more than information and images:
It'south with bang-up joy and excitement that nosotros can finally denote this project that has been years in the making—what we call Lumina Destiny. The first part of that project? A full translation patch for Tales of Destiny 2 that will be available for both PSP and PS2!This patch is existence lovingly crafted from the basis up; we don't just desire to provide Tales of fans a translation of a game that has been left in the night for nearly two decades; we want to elevate the game, to allow every fan to have the best and most streamlined experience possible. Every line of text in the game will be non but translated into English but also edited with the aim of feeling as if you're playing an official release.
However, information technology's non only the text that is getting a coat of shine; we intend to enhance the gameplay feel itself as well. Many features fans of the series have come to know and love were not present in the release of Tales of Destiny ii, and so we've taken the time to add some customizable options in order to let every player tailor the experience to their liking. We'll be going into more than detail virtually the implementation of these features in time to come posts, but here's some of what you can await to see in the Lumina Tales patch:
- Subtitles: Battles, victory screens and anime cutscenes will all exist fully subtitled.
- Skit Indicators: The game will now inform you on-screen when new skits become bachelor.
- Font Select: Y'all can choose between a pixel font that is more than optimal for the smaller resolutions of the PSP and Vita or a howdy-res font that is optimized for PS2 hardware and emulators.

I played it a lot when it showtime came out (mainly because I had only had the income to replay games rather than go new ones immediately) and fifty-fifty for a Tales game, information technology did not age well. The story has most no depth and its more of fleshing out characters from the kickoff game than anything else. The remake of ToD basically makes information technology a pointless game. It gets dangerously close to ToS2 bad.Gonna be interesting to see how domestic fans take Destiny 2j. That'south a existent love/hate matter.

What I volition say is that our (Lumina Tales) philosophy and approach is very different from Life Bottle's. They favor an open-source translation where they have many contributors translating and program to piece of work on editing more following their 100% translation. Nosotros favor a smaller, closed squad with defended translators and editors. We've been planning to do DC for quite a while, but we needed to do a lot of work to get Destiny 2 into its nowadays state. The other project cropped up later we started work on ours, so we didn't really account for any of that in our plans with this project. We as well want to add similar QoL to DC (such as those battle/victoru subtitles!) and ensure that terminology, character voice, etc are consistent between the two games.
information technology'southward fine if others don't recall that's necessary if something already exists for the game. Destiny DC is a passion project for me in particular, and then I'1000 committed to working on these games to their completion, barring whatsoever serious setbacks.

Some cameo fights with older characters and weapons from what I remember (Chalteir Mirage and Barbatos axe) in the PSP version. Nothing worth worrying well-nigh imo. That'due south pretty crawly. Are there any notable differences between the PS2 and the PSP version, or is the PSP one that came after just a direct port without notable cutbacks or enhancements?

That'southward pretty awesome. Are there any notable differences between the PS2 and the PSP version, or is the PSP one that came after simply a direct port without notable cutbacks or enhancements?
The PSP version has some bonus stuff in the EX dungeon/loonshit fights, new mystic arte cutting-ins, bugfixes, some balancing changes (including fixing the price of carry-over in the Grade Shop), no multiplayer on PSP, manifestly and some slight differences to the control scheme to account for the push layout.. We'll likely particular the version differences in greater particular later on, and then players tin make informed decisions on which they desire to play.

Hope these projects become completed. I'm always a fan of seeing a series translated in full, and for a lot of long running JRPG serial, that almost always involves the hands of fans to complete the gaps.

Tales of has been one of the most elusive franchises that had fan projects start, stall, and terminate, and these two games seem to accept some of the nigh amount of try put into them that for one reason or another never fully finished.Hope these projects get completed. I'g always a fan of seeing a series translated in full, and for a lot of long running JRPG serial, that almost always involves the hands of fans to complete the gaps.
Yep and information technology's incredibly frustrating for the mainline series
Phantasia: Has an SNES fan translation, 2 dissimilar ps1 fan translations, an official English language gba release, but no attempts to translate phantasia cantankerous (the definitive release) have gone anywhere
Destiny: Has an officinal English ps1 release, and and so at least four fan translations for Destiny R DC ii of which died and 1 hasn't even started production
Eternia: Official English release for ps1 and psp versions (pal simply for psp)
Destiny two: At least 2 fan translations 1 which is dead
Symphonia: Multiple versions in English, though we went years without admission to the PS2 content in English
Rebirth: Allegedly there is a fan translation however working on this that hasn't updated in years and won't until "they have something substantial to show"...
Legendia: Official English language release for merely version of the game
Abyss: Official English release for all versions
Innocence: Fan translation for DS version, none for vita remake
Vesperia: Official 360 and many later releases, merely went years with PS3 content in English language
Hearts: DS fan translation canceled when official vita localization was appear, which is a shame equally the DS version was superior past a lot of accounts
Graces: No official English language release for Wii version, but non an consequence as nosotros have the superior English PS3 title.
After this every mainline game got an official English release (xillia, xillia ii, zestiria, berseria, and the upcoming arise). There take been several projects to translate some of the spin offs like the globe titles and vs but all of them stalled out.

Merely information technology looks like this LuminaTales Squad is planning to localise both ToD2 and ToD DC, then hopefully there's a adept run a risk of getting a decent fan translation effort from both.

Good news merely based on contempo Tales of YouTube Aqueduct videos , i got a feeling that the offical TODR translation will be released adjacent year. Hope these Fan translations will not impact the sales of the offical production then much if and then. I withal want the others Tales games to exist localized.
If any official localizations become appear, we volition volition cede to them, merely as all the other Tales fan translations take in the past. Nosotros don't want to hurt sales if they decide to finally bring either game over, afterwards all.
That said, any rumors about DC remaster are all the same unsubstantiated and probably quite a means out, given their history of using remasters every bit a cease gap for dry out spells between new game releases. We really haven't seen anything beyond Tomizawa saying he would like to see the rest of the world getting to play those unlocalized titles one twenty-four hour period.

Understand the view, really appreciate the effort and work washed since more need to play these great games.
I am only a scrap worried that NB will be discouraged to localize and port their old games and TODR accept the nigh demands and sales potential IMO. Not to pour any cold water over this, really .

It didn't hinder them announcing Graces F (the Wii version was beingness worked on) or Vesperia DE (which had a released patch!), so we don't recall information technology'due south much of a deterrent. If anything, we'd hope it shows that in that location's a need to bring the game to more than accessible platforms, since we ARE still dealing with PS2 and PSP limitations, and the games are only bachelor secondhand, especially with Sony axing the PSP stuff in the PSN shop presently.
I totally become the concern though, it's all skillful!

I remember you lot're underselling it a bit. At that place'south a ton of manual translation, proofreading, editing and piece of work that goes into that patch. Information technology probably won't have the same quality and nuances that a acme tier fantranslation or a professional i does but from what I've seen the dialogue feels natural, the characters accept their personalities intact and the story will brand complete sense. It's a decent project.
